Rainbows and Dirt :)

“I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands…
I wanna grow something wild and unruly…
I wanna sleep on the hard ground
In the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of blue bonnets
In a blanket made of stars

I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall”

My friends and I loved “Cowboy Take Me Away” by the Dixie Chicks in high school. We would blast it with the windows down, often singing along. 🙂 I don’t think the lyrics had as much meaning to me then as they do now.

I always enjoyed being outdoors and playing outside as a child…I loved the grass, the flowers, the breeze, the birds, the clouds in the sky. I loved to sit in the dirt and sink my fingers into it!

Living in New York City, with all our cement and seriousness, I have to search a bit deeper for the natural and peaceful beauty I so love. I have been fortunate enough to take a few weekend trips this summer, and the joy I feel when I see the trees, the rocks, the mountains, the stars, and the sunsets is indescribable.

One of my best-selling pieces, the 18 karat gold tie dye band, is inspired by one of my favorite natural wonders, the rainbow. Last weekend, while driving to the Berkshires, my friends and I spotted an incredible one across the sky. I was so genuinely delighted to see the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple stripes. It was just breathtaking and a reminder of how important it is to be in touch with the natural world.

Peace, Elisa
